HISTORY 1836 - 1872
In 1873, son Peter Friedrich Cretschmar continued the company. During this time, two of the company's own steamers sailed from Düsseldorf and Cologne to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Cretschmar took over his first shipping company agency.
In 1883, Cretschmar was the first interested party to register for the Düsseldorf telephone service and was given the telephone number 1.
Between 1885 and 1900, Cretschmar took over various shipping agencies for both Rhine and Rhine-sea shipping to German and European ports of destination on the North and Baltic Seas and in the Mediterranean region.
In 1895, Cretschmar founded a branch in the port of Neuss and in the same year erected its own storage shed on an approximately 110 m long quay front at the Düsseldorf commercial port, which was under construction.
The foundations for the trade fair forwarding company were laid in 1902: Cretschmar is a co-founder and partner of the forwarding company founded for the "Große Düsseldorfer Industrie- & Gewerbe-Ausstellung".
In 1904, the company headquarters were moved from the warehouse at Dammstraße 5 to a large commercial building at Stromstraße 7, directly in the Düsseldorf harbor area.
In 1908, Cretschmar took over the large warehouse in Düsseldorf's Berger harbor.
In 1909, Cretschmar set up its own coal tipping facility in Neuss and in the same year was given representation for direct Rhine steamer transports to the main ports in southern Norway.
In 1920, two years after the end of the First World War, Cretschmar resumed direct Rhine-sea traffic to England.
